Unearth responds to the landscape as a metaphor for the human soul. The series of artworks explores the themes of reflection and transformation in nature and the self. Dramatic compositions of skies, rocks and ocean are depicted with bold color and texture to express varying emotions such as peaceful or somber moods.

Layers of oil paint, cold wax, and india ink are used to create dynamic and sculptural landscapes filled with movement. The build-up and scraping down of the various layers of medium to reveal markings that reflect the earth’s natural process of erosion and wear over time. Remnants of initial thoughts can be identified in ink strokes and other markings as revealed through the layers.
